SAMMY WRIGHT

What’s the point of school?

We hear so much about school from the perspective of adults – teachers, parents, politicians. But what do children think about school? And what role will it really play for them – not just on paper, but in the fabric of their lives? This will be a report from the half-way point of a project (to be published by Penguin /Bodley Head in 2024) that has involved me visiting schools around the country and talking to kids, parents and experts about the real function of school in British society.
