Agile Learning Centres: Consent-based education
What happens when consent is the foundation of learning experiences for children? This talk will introduce the key concepts of Agile Learning Centres and tools that can be adopted in any setting with kids to enable their participation. In this talk, we will dive into ways that we can support children’s autonomy and why we really need to. Following the session, participants will gain insight into methods which enable children’s participation that can be adapted to suit any setting.
Bio
Jyoti Imix is an author, academic researcher, playworker, therapist and advocate for children. She’s on a mission to change the landscape of childhood. Her book ‘What To Do About School’ is a translation of thesis about alternative education with a particular focus on self-directed learning. Her research took her all over the world, visiting radical settings which she examined from a child-centric perspective.
