This presentation will share an innovative approach for preventing school failure and promoting students’ academic success and social and emotional well-being for students, teachers, and families. This approach engages all key stakeholders and provides comprehensive support using a preventive and supportive approach. The presentation will highlight this innovative model in NYC, its success and lessons learned.

Bio

Dr. Chun Zhang, a teacher trainer for over 2 decades, is a professor in the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University in NYC. She has published widely in culturally and linguistically responsive practices, inclusion and diversity, and teacher effectiveness. Danica Goyens-Ward is a Doctoral Student in Innovation, Curriculum and Instruction at Fordham University. For the past 16 years, Danica has been a classroom teacher at Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School, serving as a cultural responsive lead educator for the school community.
